boating enthusiast named Roger Upton founded the United States Power Squadron (USPS)
in 1914 at the Boston Yacht Club. It originated to provide boating education to
the “new” breed of power boaters of the era and has since evolved to
recognize the need for boating education for all types of vessels. The USPS is a
national organization of boating enthusiasts dedicated to making our waterways
safer through education. It has squadrons as far away as the Virgin Islands.
